In honor of my favorite aunt's birthday earlier this week (this is one of her favorite drinks) and my upcoming trip, I thought I'd share the recipe for an Irish-themed drink.
Irish Car Bomb
Pint of Guinness
1/2 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
1/2 oz. of Jameson Irish Whiskey
Pour the Guinness into a Stout glass. Pour the Bailey's into the bottom of a shot glass and then pour the Jameson on top of it. Drop the shot glass into the glass full of Guinness, this is "the bomb", and then drink it fast.
My aunt's variation is to use a full ounce of whiskey instead of the Bailey's. You still drop the shot glass into the Guinness and chug though.
I saw one of these being made in the airport on St. Patty's. The waitress had no clue, so she poured 4/5 glass Guinness and then topped the glass off with the whiskey and the baileys. She then proceeded to stir it with a spoon and had it to the guy. He just looked at her...
ReplyDeleteHaha- I could never drink one of these- I am sure they taste great- but I could never drink it fast enough before the bad stuff happens.
ReplyDeleteOh man, those are awesome. Just be careful -- a good friend of mine chipped her tooth when the shot glass slid forward as she chugged away.
ReplyDeleteyou mean, really drop the shot glass IN or the contents only??
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this, but I like all the components.
OK, I just asked my husband and he's heard of it and says "that would be fun one to try." I love a good excuse to stock up on Bailey's!
