Quick Dishwasher Tip

Dishes are not my favorite chore. (In fact, chores in general are not really my favorite thing, but what can you do?) I came up with a little dishwasher loading trick that saves me time when I'm unloading the dishwasher though.

I categorize the utensils by type in their little holders: salad forks in one section, entree forks in another section, knives in another section, etc. That way, when I unload the dishwasher, I can just grab all the same type utensils and drop them in the drawer organizer without thinking about it or sorting. It doesn't add any time to loading, but it saves time when unloading.

  2. Thanks for sharing...
I learned another good tip this week.
Your detergent is not still there because the plastic on it didn't melt- it is still there because the top of a pan was blocking the trap door. It took 3 failed cycles to figure that one out. ouch!

  3. That is such a great tip. So simple, why did I never think of it before?

  5. I started doing that a while back when my husband's grandfather showed me his "trick." It really does make it faster. That's my least favorite part of unloading, so do it quickly, right?

  6. You don't find that your spoons nest together? I didn't grow up with a dishwasher, and I didn't learn to use one until my junior year, when my roommate taught me never to put spoons together because they would nest together and not get clean. But maybe I will have to re-evaluate this...

  8. Rabbit, by not overcrowding the section and putting the spoons in at different angles, I'm able to avoid having the spoons nest together.

  9. That's such a good idea. I can never remember to organize it on the front end, though. It annoys me when I'm unloading them and then I think about how I should have done it differently.
