Yesterday's Library Haul

Have you ever read a book that’s so good that at first you’re reading super fast because you can’t get over how good it is, but towards the end you start to read really slowly because you don’t want it to be over? That’s how I feel about Meredith’s blog, Like Merchant Ships. I’m a new discoverer of it, but have been reading her archives and continue to be inspired and impressed by her ideas for entertaining, decorating, and "cheerful frugality".

Unfortunately for me, she has recently given up blogging and I’m nearing the end of her archives. So, in an attempt to avoid the inevitable sense of loss that comes with finishing a really great read, I’ve taking some of her book suggestions.

Yesterday’s library haul was inspired by Meredith (and my upcoming trip to Canada.) If Meredith likes Amy Dacyczyn and Alexandra Stoddard, then I’m sure I will too. Lonely Planet is my all-time favorite guidebook and I got an audio book by the hilarious David Sedaris to listen to on the road-trip up. I got the movie Year of the Dog just because I’ve wanted to see it since it was first in theaters but never did. I think Molly Shannon is too funny.

What are you reading/listening to/watching? What do you think about my picks?

  1. I know exactly what you mean about reading a book so quickly and then slowing down. It's the worst thing about ending a book - not having any more to read!

I know word verification is a pain, but I'm getting a lot of spam comments, more than I can keep up with. I hope you'll leave a comment anyway. I really appreciate you reading and love hearing back from you.
